Math 2: Graphing Quadratics Notes; Quiz Tomorrow 3/23

Hey all, here are the links to the first rounds of notes for quadratic functions.  Remember, this unit is packed full of information so make sure you are on point each day and asking questions, either in class or here on the site.

Quadratics in Standard Form

Quadratics in Vertex Form

Be ready for a "pop quiz" tomorrow.  This is the only place you can learn about it in advance!   You will be placed in groups of 3/4 and will be given a function.  You will need to graph it and know the following characteristics:  domain, range, axis of symmetry, vertex, interval of increase, interval of decrease, maximum/minimum.

Study hard!

Extra Credit Opportunity!! Due Tuesday 3/20/12

Alright guys, today we learned about the Gauss Solution for arithmetic series, created by the guy in the picture, Carl Friedrich Gauss.  Here is your assignment, for 100 extra credit points:

Create a poster that details the life and accomplishments of Gauss.  It should include as much pertinent info as possible, along with a picture of some sort that is relates to Gauss (it could even be him).  I want you to be as creative as possible and we will present these at the beginning of class on Tuesday.  The best ones will go on the wall, as always!

Again, this is for 100 points!  Rarely will I ever give an extra credit assignment worth this much. Take advantage!  If you have any questions, post them here or tweet me @CoachRushing (it works now).

Me at the College World Series in Omaha, NE.  If you like sports, it's an incredible place.  But anyway...

Hey all, this website was created to help students with math.  The majority of the content on the site will link directly to my classes I teach, but if you are not one of my students, feel free to ask any math-related questions at anytime.  I'll be glad to help however I can.  For my students, this site is for you.  I will be posting important dates, announcements, class notes (hopefully, if I can link Smartboard files) and even some extra credit opportunities as well.

My goal is to make this an interactive site for you.  If you have questions about homework or what we did in class, here is the place to ask.  I will be glad to answer any questions you have regarding assignments or even tonight's homework.  Like I tell you about my class, this website will be as good as YOU make it!

As you know, I am here to help.  Let's have fun while we learn!

You can also follow me on Twitter @CoachRushing.  I check it daily and will be glad to answer any questions you may have, if I can answer it in less than 140 characters!  I will also be dropping some extra credit opportunities on my Twitter account as well.
