Math 2 Extra Credit Opportunity Here!!

You want extra credit?  Here's your chance!  This is due Friday 8/31!

After reading the article, respond by answering the following questions in a double-spaced, 12 point format or legibly:


  • What is the drop in IQ for those who began using marijuana as a teenager?  State this in terms of points lost as well as percentile drop.
  • Based on the research, is there a correlation between intelligence (IQ) and marijuana use as a teenager?  Would it be positive or negative?
  • Using the research done in the study, is there sufficient evidence to prove causation?  Specifically, does teen marijuana use cause lower intelligence as an adult? Why or why not?
Thoroughly answer the above questions in the appropriate format to earn 25 extra credit points!  This is due by Friday 8/31 at the end of the school day.

  1. my opinion? My opinion is that is scary! I never knew that could effect your IQ. That would be effecting alot of people then... and would explain the percent of people droping out.

  2. It's very frightening to me. It really damages teenagers IQ Levels. It explains a lot about how bad it is and how it makes people drop out because of it.

Isaac pope- I have always been a believer in medicinal marijuana for a multitude of uses, buy only for people 18 and older and have a fully developed brain, I can see how marijuana could damage a developing brain, and teens shouldn't use marijuana or any controlled substance for that matter (including stuff like riddilin) but I had a family friend that died of cancer, and he said that the chemotherapy was more painful than the cancer. Marijuana takes away that pain and makes them able to eat, and maybe in some cases teens with stuff like cancer could probably spare a few iq points for more life, but it should never be used recreationally by people with semi developed brains.
